Addressing a programme organised here by National Campaign for Education (NCE)-Nepal on Sunday, Jha was of the view that private schools were encouraged to hike the fees every year as the Education Ministry failed to live up to its responsibility of implementing the ‘criteria for fees increment’ effectively. The programme was organised for submitting a memorandum to political parties, seeking good governance and sense of responsibility in education sector and increasing civic participation in it. “The government has set criteria for private schools in regard with an increase in fees. But private schools are found flouting the criteria and the Education Ministry should dare to implement it effectively,” she asserted. The Ministry should take a risk to make sure the implementation of fee increment criteria properly by private schools so as to systematise them. Claiming the role of politics behind the education sector failing to see improvement in its quality, she urged teachers to be professional, otherwise come to politics openly by quitting jobs. Nepali Congress leader Bhimsendas Pradhan insisted on the need of depoliticizing education to maintain its quality. - See more at: http://www.lightnepalvdo.com/videos/haphazard-fee-hike-riles-parliamentary-committee/#sthash.kHxWZTmW.dpuf
