    The run-up to the local level elections scheduled for May 14, the Armed Police Force (APF) has stepped up security at areas near the Indian border in Parsa and Bara districts.As part of the security arrangement aiming to hold the polls in a fair and peaceful manner, patrolling and checking are being carried out on a daily basis, APF Deputy Inspector General Narendra Kumar Singh told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.The APF personnel from 16 districts in the mid-Tarai region have been directed to be prepared for the polls, he added.

    He also said the APF subordinate bodies have also been directed to keep a high alert to ensure no criminal activities take place along the bordering areas in view of the elections.For that, the Seema Suraksha Bal, Indian border security force, is also being coordinated with, he informed.
