Restaurant serving unhygienic food shut down for 2 months

Doha: A restaurant in Mesaimeer is closed for two months for serving food unfit for human consumption.

The Al Rayan municipality ordered complete closure of Colombo restaurant in Mesaimeer, Industrial Area Street, for 60 days for serving unhygienic food.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (Baladiya) published the details about the closure on their smartphone app.

The decision came almost a week ago (February 28, 2017) and Baladiya published photos from the restaurant on their official app which showed some kind of small animal in the served food.

The news went viral in Arabic social media as the photos were cringe worthy and showed very appalling disregard to hygiene. People were speculating that the small animal seen in the picture could be “rat”. This was not mentioned in ministry’s report and we could not confirm the same.

People praised Baladiya for strong and timely action and urged the department to continue the great work and be strict on food outlets.
